SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
In 2019 the New Haven Community Foundation Board of Directors held a strategic planning session in which supporting the schools and students in New Haven would be a critical component in our mission of Enhancing Life and Investing in our Future. Immediately afterwards, leadership began meeting with School Administration and discussing what they felt would be the best way to support their efforts in propelling their students to success. One immediate need identified was motivating excellence through scholarships. In 2020 the NHCF Board of Directors identified 5 scholarships that they would work towards raising funds and permanently establishing endowments for. The area of interests for these scholarships were identified by using the High School’s career paths as guidelines. Below are the scholarships that the New Haven Community Foundation has already endowed or are continuing to work towards endowing.
BILL & TODD FRITCHA MEMORIAL VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
The New Haven Community Foundation has raised funds to be awarded annually in perpetuity to New Haven students that have a passion to pursue a career in a vocational field. It is our intent to reward these students’ pursuit to support an industrious and well built community.
ARTS SCHOLARSHIP
The New Haven Community Foundation has raised funds to be awarded annually in perpetuity to New Haven students that have a passion to pursue a career in an arts field. It is our intent to reward these students’ pursuit to support a creative and attractive place to live and thrive in.
OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS NOT YET FUNDED
NHCF Medical Scholarships:
The New Haven Community Foundation is currently raising funds for an endowed Medical Scholarship to be awarded annually in perpetuity to New Haven students that have a passion to pursue a career in the medical field. It is our intent to reward these students’ pursuit to support a healthy and thriving community.
NHCF STEM Scholarship:
The New Haven Community Foundation is currently raising funds for an endowed Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Scholarship to be awarded annually in perpetuity to New Haven students that have a passion to pursue a career in the STEM fields. It is our intent to reward these students’ pursuit of advancing our community towards a thriving future through innovation and understanding.
NHCF Leadership Scholarship:
The New Haven Community Foundation is currently raising funds for an endowed Leadership Scholarship to be awarded annually in perpetuity to New Haven students that have shown a track record of demonstrated leadership in our community. It is our intent to reward these students’ pursuit of pushing beyond their comfort zone and working towards real and positive impact in our community.
